C.R.S. 42-3-107(9) and (10). Taxable value is 85 percent of MSRP and never changes for the life of the vehicle. The model year counts as the first year of service.
The age-of-vehicle fee moved to $12, $10 and $7 on July 1, 2026. The older $9, $7 and $5 schedule was repealed on that date.
The road safety surcharge is temporarily $3.70 lower for registration periods between September 1, 2025 and August 31, 2027 under Senate Bill 25-258. It returns to the full statutory amount on September 1, 2027.
