Montana charges no sales tax on a vehicle purchase.

Montana has no general sales tax, so there is no tax when you buy a vehicle. Counties may charge an annual local option tax at registration instead.

A light vehicle with an MSRP over $150,000 that is 10 years old or newer pays an extra $825 a year at registration.
